Katarzyna Nowak

is a wildlife scientist who has contributed to National Geographic, bioGraphic, The American Scholar, Mongabay and The Conversation. She’s a fellow at The Safina Center. She earned her BA in Animal Behavior and PhD in biological anthropology researching behavioral flexibility in non-human primates adapting to human-modified environments. She then co-founded a project that today works to boost human-elephant coexistence. She was a 2016-2017 AAAS Science and Technology Policy Fellow at the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
